The First Step to a Better Future
Preschool is a stepping stone to future success in education and in life. Preschool students gain valuable self-confidence and learn necessary social skills like how to communicate and interact with others while displaying appropriate behavior in the classroom. Unfortunately, some households can’t afford to send their children to preschool. Sioux Falls Hope Coalition was created to provide free preschool to kids from those families. Because a child without hope is a child without a future.
The Benefits of Preschool
According to research published by the American Economic Review, children who attend preschool are 3% more likely to complete high school and 39% more likely to finish college. As adults, they’re more likely to have a professional job and much less likely to live in poverty or require public assistance.

As many as 400 kids every year in Sioux Falls area don’t get the opportunity to attend preschool. We currently partner with 15 local preschools to connect all children with the education they deserve. Our partners, generous financial supporters, and the United Way share our goal of ensuring that every child gets a chance to attend preschool—regardless of their family’s ability to pay private tuition.
