From the beginning, the Hope Coalition has been committed to using existing resources in the community to address the needs of children in poverty. Preschools at three area churches— Sioux Falls First, Peace Lutheran, and Abiding Savior Free Lutheran—were partners the first school year. As many as 40 children from around the city attended classes at those locations the first year. Today, 90 children are enjoying classes at six high-quality partners throughout Sioux Falls.
The Sioux Falls School District is an equally valuable partner. They have helped place children in Hope Coalition preschools who are on a waiting list for federally subsidized programs such as Head Start. Dr. Brian Maher, school superintendent, was among the community leaders who gathered under the Hope Coalition banner in 2015.
